Frequently asked questions.

What does The Relocationist do?

The Relocationist is an accredited travel and relocation coach that provides professional advice on international living, residency/visa planning, real estate rentals and investments, shipping, schooling, community involvement, and more. I offer a comprehensive range of support services to assist with every element of your overseas move.

My goal is to not only enliven people's perspectives but also to offer the most dynamic, made-to-measure services to citizens everywhere, enabling them to embrace a more authentic life of global freedom.

Is The Relocationist a real estate agent?

Sean Murphy is a Certified International Travel Coach & Consultant. He works with an expansive network of qualified and trusted lawyers, real estate agents, brokers, accountants, shipping and customs companies with years of experience in their fields. Sean has spent nearly two decades traveling, designing, and guiding tours on the Asian and European continents. During this time, he has also networked for an American travel company, creating itineraries and managing bookings in the African and Latin American regions.

Now, as a husband and father of three girls, Sean has sold everything to conquer the global expat life while raising his kids in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and now Mexico. Sean can draw on his evidence-based experience and apply it to anyone looking to become a full-time global citizen.

Which countries do you work with?

Right now we are set up and ready to help you relocate to Mexico with Vietnam with Thailand coming soon. Also looking to expand our services to Nicaragua, Bali and parts of the African region.

How does your process work?

Contrary to guidebooks, PDFs, and internet forums, which offer a more "DIY" or "one-size-fits-all" approach, I prefer to work with my clients in a more personal and in-depth manner. Every client, situation, and desired outcome is different, which is why I provide a "done-with-you (DWY)" or "done-for-you (DFY)" approach, offering customized guidance and ongoing support that you deserve.

I offer a private one-on-one consultation that covers every aspect of your move, so you don't have to search through a Rolodex of companies or deal with untrustworthy individuals trying to take advantage of you. We understand that uprooting your life and integrating into a foreign country involves much more than just handling tedious paperwork. While creating a logistical plan of action is important to get you through the door, establishing a belief system and finding peace of mind, where you have the utmost confidence in your ability to reinvent your life elsewhere, will help you thrive in the long run.

What Our Clients Have To Say

  • "We came across their videos early on which completely opened our eyes to travel with kids, it gave my husband and I a ton of courage to make the leap. We haven't looked back as Thailand has become our new home!"

    Suzanne Durell, TX

  • "I was hooked on their adventures before and knew I had to reach out during our 2022 move to Mexico. Sean has a genuine way of making you think about things you wouldn't have otherwise thought of. We felt like we had a friend during our whole transition phase. There are a zillion things to think of, and I can't tell you the anxiety leading up! Sean and his team literally walked us through everything the entire way. I can't praise them enough!!!!!!

    Melissa & Jared Ashton, BC

  • "As a father myself with young kids I was immediately drawn to Sean and his family hearing another dad's perspectives on raising kids abroad. We knew Canada was no longer in our future goals, which is when we decided to reach out. We have now been living in Puerto Vallarta for over 6 months thanks to The relocation team and their efforts to secure us a home. We are still in the pursuit of buying property here as we were advised to "give it a good year first before you purchase anything." It's great having some of the real estate team as expats too! Everyone understands the situation we're all in and is willing to assist in so many ways. Thank you again team for being so patient with us and mentoring us through this new phase of our life."

    Rory Nixon, ON

  • “When faced with the daunting task of leaving the US to move to Mexico, working with someone who has been advising and walking me through every step has been priceless. Sean’s services are beyond compare with anything else I’ve ever seen! I wasn’t interested in reading more information on how to make this possible. Sometimes you just want to pick up the phone and speak to a HUMAN who gets it!! He takes a personal interest in making things as smooth and painless as possible. This isn’t just a job to him, you feel his heart is in this helping every way he can. I know he has done this before which makes his attention to detail incredible. I will gladly recommend him to all of my contacts who are looking for relocation services! Oh and I’m not sure if I can use their name on here but the lady who helped me with my temporary residency was unbelievable. This was the part I was concerned about the most. Thank you, you know who you are!!”

    Natalie McCreary, CO

  • "I chose just to have a phone call with Sean as I wanted to know more about life in Asia. I knew I wasn't ready to move my wife and daughter there just yet, but getting a clearer picture of what our life could look like there was exactly what I needed. We are interested in Bali and Vietnam as potential places to reside. Thank you for your insight and contacts as I plan our families next move."

    Benoit Severin, FR

  • “We treated Sean and his family to dinner in 2018 while visiting Danang. I am originally from Vietnam but grew up the US and watching their “living in Vietnam” videos brought me right back to my roots and allowed me to reconnect with my homeland. In the process we were introduced to Tai Phan who took care of all of our real estate dreams allowing my wife and I to purchase a 2 bedroom condo in the Muong Thanh area of Danang. We are forever grateful for discovering this families worldly adventures and the connections they have made in so many parts of the world. Our hope is to make Danang our permanent home one day! Thank you for changing our perspectives."
